Jobs website www.reed.co.uk has revealed that salary expectations in Northern Ireland are lower than anywhere else in the UK.

The report is based on the pay expectations of 850,000 jobseekers who registered with the website in the past twelve months.

Northern Irish applicants expected an average of just over £17,500 per annum, while applicants in the south east of England expected the highest salaries, an average of over £21,000.

The UK jobseeker survey also highlighted a substantial gap in pay expectations between men and women; the average woman expected to be paid over £3,500 less than the average man.
