The Jessops camera retail chain has announced plans to cut its workforce by 8% in an effort to adjust to the changing demands of the electrical goods market.
With many consumers now looking online for electrical goods, Jessops’ total sales figures have fallen by almost a quarter over the past 12 months.
The planned job cuts form part of an ongoing strategy to reduce the retailer’s cost base and improve efficiency. Jessops closed over 80 stores across the UK last year.
“Our trading performance reflects the difficult and uncertain environment we operate in,” said David Adams, Executive Chairman of Jessops. “The Board remains confident that the Group is on the right track to build sustainable profitability.”
