Please note that DaltonsBusiness.com is an advertising-only website. We
are not qualified to offer you legal or financial advice. We are also
not responsible for the businesses for sale on this site – any advice
required for an individual business should be directed to the business
seller or Business Transfer Agent handling the sale by using the
"contact seller" facility available at the top and bottom of each
advert.
Please check the FAQs below to help in your query.
Q1.1 I keep seeing the same businesses advertised each time I visit –
how often is the site updated?
- The site is updated daily, however, it takes a few months for each
business to be sold and our agents will advertise a business until an offer
is accepted, so you will see the same businesses advertised for a few months
each.
Q1.2 I requested further details on a business but have received
nothing – how long should it take?
- If your request is sent before 3pm, it is likely that you will
receive further details the next day. Our agents usually post out the
information so they will need time to collate the details and arrange
the postage. If you have not heard anything after 3-4 days, please send
an email quoting the business reference number and agent where possible
to:
queries@DaltonsBusiness.com
Q1.3 I have seen a business that I am interested in advertised on your
website, how can I contact the seller?
- There are 3 ways to contact the sellers of businesses advertised on
our site, all these ways require you to subscribe:
- By Email: By clicking the "contact seller"
button – this sends an email to the seller or agent handling the sale of
the business. They will then respond to you, usually by post, in the
next few days. A small subscription fee is payable.
- By Telephone: By using the phone number listed in
the advert where applicable. Only private advertisers have telephone
numbers listed in their adverts. All trade advertisers need to be
contacted using the email request "contact seller" facility.
- By Post, for adverts with a PO Box number: By
writing to:
* PO BOX [number],
* DaltonsBusiness.com,
* 3rd Floor, Ludgate House,
* 245 Blackfriars Road,
* London
* SE1 9UY
quoting the box number featured in the ad.
Please do not contact DaltonsBusiness.com or Daltons Weekly directly unless
the ad has a PO Box number. We do not hold further details of any of the
businesses advertised. You will need to contact the seller as described above.
Q1.4 I am interested in a certain type of business but I can’t find one
listed on your website.
- A. We have tried to list as many business types in our search
criteria as possible, however, when we only have 1 or 2 of a certain type of
business on the database we do not open a new section for it. This is to
ensure that we always manage to bring back a number of businesses when you
define your search criteria. If it is an unusual business type you are
looking for, please try the miscellaneous section.
Q1.5 There are a number of businesses on DaltonsBusiness.com that I am
interested in. Is there any way I can keep them all together so that I can refer
back to them later?
- A. Yes – if you register you can use the "My Portfolio"
facility – under each advert there is a link to "Add to Portfolio".
Click on this and the business will be added to your own private page.
You can save up to 20 businesses in your portfolio at any one time.
Q1.6 I have forgotten my username and/or password.
- A. Click on "Login" in the main index and use the "Forgotten
your password?" link. We will then email your password to you. If
you cannot remember your username, please email
queries@DaltonsBusiness.com from, or quoting, the email address you
registered/subscribed with.
Q1.7 I cannot find an answer to my question
- A. If you still cannot find an answer to your question you can
contact us and we will try to respond within 48 hours.
If you have a technical problem, it would greatly assist our support
team if you could detail the browser (IE or Netscape) and version you
are using, any error messages produced, and the page/pages you are
trying to view.
Q2.1 How do I save my search criteria for use at a later date?
- A. Once you have made your search, you will be able to save your
criteria by clicking on the "Save Search" link at the top of the
results. You can save up to 3 searches at any one time. This facility
requires you to register.
Q2.2 I am having problem with the contact seller functionality
- A. Internet Explorer users can modify their privacy settings so that
they are prompted to accept third party content. The following steps show
how to modify the privacy settings:
1. Run Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Privacy tab, and then click Advanced.
4. Click to select the Override automatic cookie handling check box.
5. Click to select the Always allow session cookies check box
Q3.1 How do I place an ad online?
- A. Please refer to our main index and select "Place an Advert".
You will need to be registered to place an ad, however, we have a very
strict privacy policy and will not pass your details on to any third
parties.
We will be extending our 'Place an Ad' criteria to include all sections
of the site, in the meantime, if there is no option for your item,
please contact our Sales department.
Q3.2 What are the "British Code of Advertising Practice" and
the "Trade Descriptions Act 1968" as referred to in the "Place an Ad"
Advertising Agreement?
- A. These two codes are put in place to protect the public against
false advertising by ensuring that they are "legal, decent, honest and
truthful". You can access the two by clicking on the links below:
British Code of Advertising Practice:
www.asa.org.uk (The Codes)
Trade Descriptions Act 1968:
www.dti.gov.uk/access/trade/
Q3.3 I placed an advert online but cannot find it in your database.
- A. Please allow 48 hours for your advert to appear (a little longer
if placed over weekends or bank holidays). This slight delay allows the
adverts to be manually checked, before appearing live.
You can check the status of your advert by logging in and visiting the "Place
an Advert" section.
If you have waited longer than this and your advert is still not showing
contact queries@DaltonsBusiness.com quoting the business type, price and
location, along with your contact details.
Q3.4 How do I renew or amend my advert?
- A. You can amend or renew your advert by logging in and visiting the
"Place an Advert" page.
If you have placed an online advert and you cannot renew or modify it,
you may find the online deadline has expired.
Q3.5 Are my financial details secure when I place an advert online?
- All transactions are carried out over a secure Netbanx server. To
ensure that transactions passed are secure and trusted, NetBanx uses a
combination of techniques:
-
NetBanx runs Netscape Enterprise Secure Server, acknowledged as an
industry standard for applications requiring security.
- All payment card information sent to NetBanx and from NetBanx is
encrypted.
- Firewalls within the NetBanx system allow the isolation of
information .
- NetBanx has been developed from processes established over five
years as a security system specifically for the Internet environment.
For additional peace of mind, when the transaction has been successfully
completed, you will receive a confirmation email.
If you are still unsure, you can contact our sales department on 020
7955 3784 who will take your advert over the telephone.
Subscriptions can only be taken online.
Q3.6 I have placed an advert - does my advert renew automatically?
- A. No, we do not hold your credit card details on file for added
security so you will be asked to enter your credit card details again.
We can not take any payments from your credit card without your full
prior authorisation.
Q3.7 I have placed an advert online - how can I tell how many people
have viewed my ad?
- A. When you place an advert online you automatically get access to
our statistics area so you can see how many times your ad has been viewed.
All you have to do is log in, access the "Place an ad" link on the
left hand navigation panel and click on "Mini-statistics" at the
bottom right hand side of the screen.
