THE BUSINESS - The Aberfoyle Butcher has been established for 26 years and is being offered for sale as our client wishes to retire from the trade.
Specialising in traditional and continental styles of butchery, the focus is on offering a top quality product to predominantly trade customers who have utilised the business for many years. Customers include high end restaurants and hotels with deliveries available on a daily basis or as required. Two delivery vehicles are operated and the majority of deliveries are made within the Glasgow area although they are undertaken in Edinburgh and beyond as required. The majority of custom is generated from the trade customers, supplemented by shop sales.
Custom is very much through word of mouth and effectively no marketing has been undertaken. New custom is generated via recommendation and there is undoubtedly considerable scope to increase the customer base and sales via promotion of the quality products on offer.
Livestock are sourced from local farmers who have been supplying the business for many years to ensure the quality of the product. A local slaughterhouse is utilised for slaughter. Additional product is sourced from a local abattoir, again, they have been supplying the business since its opening. All products are manufactured on site including haggis, black pudding, white pudding, sausages, burgers and cooked meats are all home made.
Our client oversees the running of the business which is operated by an experienced team of staff to include a butcher, apprentice butcher, two general assistants/delivery drivers.
Opening hours are currently 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Saturday.
Financial documentation will be provided to interested parties after viewing and confirmation of interest. Sales for the year ended 30 June 2015 were £447,759, net of VAT, similar to that achieved in 2014. Excellent profit levels are generated.
Prominently located on the South side of Main Street, the property is situated towards the Eastern outskirts of the village. Directly behind the property is the village’s main car parking area and also the Scottish Wool Centre which attracts a high number of visitors.
Aberfoyle itself comprises a popular and picturesque village within Stirlingshire lying within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The village is situated on the A81 trunk road at the foot of the Menteith hills and close to the Western shores of Loch Lomond. The village is extremely popular with tourist visitors throughout the year being located approximately 25 miles to the North of Glasgow, while Callendar and Stirling are approximately 9 and 15 miles North East and East respectively.
