The premises occupy a light industrial unit offering c 1,150sq. ft of usable space plus mezzanine storage in a business park close to West Moors, a busy village in East Dorset lying adjacent to the A31 trunk route close to the Hampshire border.
This small but high quality business has specialised in the automation of commercial glasshouses for more than 30 years.
Originally formed to serve the requirements of the horticultural industry, the customer base has widened to include major DIY retailers, universities, local authorities and garden centres.
The bespoke service offered to clients includes the supply, installation and maintenance of climatic control equipment supporting ventilation systems, thermostatically controlled heating systems and mechanical components for vent drive systems as well as environmental screens and irrigation systems. The latter work particularly is seasonal in the Spring (recommissioning systems over 6 weeks) and Autumn (draining down systems over 2-3 weeks) to reflect the growing season. Some pure commercial electrical contracting work is also carried out upon request from the client base as required.
Operating from freehold premises on a small business park in East Dorset work is carried out nationwide as well as in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland by a small team of skilled operatives.

A change in the phasing of invoicing for a major client served to distort turnover and profitability in the years ended 30 June 2014 and 30 June 2015 but this was merely a timing issue. When averaged over the two year period sales of £158,148 were indicated (up slightly from the figure seen in the year ended 30 June 2013). Rolling annual sales as evidenced from the last 4 x quarterly Vat returns suggest an increase to c £161,000 in the latest 12 month period.
Materials costs equate to c 18% of sales and direct labour costs equate to c 55% of sales. The vendor handles all administrative, financial and accounting aspects of the business and is supported by two full time and one part time employees, all of whom are very experienced. The senior employee, who has been with the business for 30 years, manages all technical aspects including site surveys, estimating/quoting and coordination of installation and servicing work, which requires a considerable amount of travel during the course of a year. This employee receives a profit share as part of the remuneration package. The part time staff member is happy to work extra hours when required.
The office/workshop premises are normally manned from 8.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
