Business Description
The company was founded in 2002 and currently enjoys full United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation for the air testing of both Domestic and Commercial Buildings. It is also a member of the ATTMA (The Air Tightness Testing and Measurement Asscociation, which is a special interest group within The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT dealing with air permeability of all building types.

ATTMA comprises organisations that are experienced UKAS-Accredited Air Testing Bodies who have undergone further technical appraisal by ATTMA.

ATTMA members are BINDT Registered for testing dwellings (ADL1) and non-dwellings (ADL2), this gives authority to test Commercial buildings and is BINDT registered. (British Institute of Non Destructive Testing). There are only approximately 15 such companies in the UK. These accreditations allow a complete package of testing to comply with parts L1A, L2A and L2B of the Building Regulations.

The company perform a simple non destructive test on a building to ensure that the air tightness of the envelope is within strict parameters. This test ensures that the heated air form within stays inside the building and reduces the amount of energy needed to heat the builing, thus saving CO2.

Part L1A calls for a representative sample of dwellings, in a development of more than two properties, to be tested. Confusingly though this means for only one or two dwellings air tests are not actually mandatory. However in real life it is easier and more cost effective to actually carry out an air test rather than demonstrate energy saving by more complex methods, such as thicker insulation.

Part L2A of the Building Regulations calls for all non-dwellings with a gross floor area exceeding 500m2 to be air tested.

Part L2B applies to large extensions added to non dwellings. These extensions also now require an air test.

With new build it is now a requirement to carry out these tests prior to handing over the project.

This company currently works 60/40 split between domestic and commercial.
