The business is ideally suited to be run by a couple with the assistance of up 2 full time members of staff in the winter and a combination of 14 full time, part time and seasonal staff in the summer. Given its prominent location on the main road to Skye and its proximity to Eilean Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh and Plockton the hotel is incredibly popular with walkers, climbers and tourists exploring the West Highlands and benefits greatly from repeat business.
The hotel appeals to a variety of guests with a wide range of accommodation; from superior and standard rooms to budget bunkhouse beds with prices from £60/£80 pppn in the hotel and £16.50 pppn in the bunkhouse.
Kintail bar is popular with both locals and visitors and trade is also derived from the nearby caravan park, youth hostel and numerous B&B’s and holiday cottages. The hotel can also accommodate small weddings and private parties. A varied menu is provided in both the bar and restaurant and the owners place a great deal of importance on local produce, in particular local venison and lamb, mussels, langoustines and scallops.
The hotel is very popular and its occupancy rates are in excess of 90% in peak season. As there is great demand for additional letting rooms the hotel could be extended.
Nestled close to the shores of Loch Duich and surrounded by some of the most beautiful and dramatic highland scenery lies the Kintail Lodge Hotel. It is positioned adjacent to the A87, the main road and tourist route to the Isle of Skye, the Western Isles and Applecross Peninsula. The hotel is a short distance from the famous Eileen Donan Castle and the Five Sisters of Kintail. Inverness is a 64 mile drive while Fort William is 59 miles away. Glasgow and Edinburgh are both approximately a 4 hour drive. The nearest town is Kyle of Lochalsh (15 miles) which has a good range of shops, restaurants and amenities. This area has long been a popular tourist destination with its remote feel yet just a short distance away from the busy tourist centres. The countryside offers a haven of peace where native wildlife and flora are plentiful and breath taking views are the norm.
