The Founder has been involved with PV for ten years and has been selling similar products to international customers for many years - hence the business concept is proven. The business can be run from home anywhere and has very low running costs.
The company sells to solar installers, regional distributors and wholesalers worldwide attracted by aggressive competitive pricing, unique British branding, customer support and a warranty backed in the UK by a British company. Larger distributors are offered exclusivity for their territory.
Once a regional distributor has signed an exclusivity agreement then we expect regular stock orders of panels will be specified for future projects and local customers. The company has now signed exclusive distribution agreements in Thailand, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Nigeria, Turkey, Iran, Japan and Greece. The company is currently negotiating with a major international installer to supply large projects.
Stocking orders have been received from Ireland, Thailand, Nigeria, Philippines, Ghana and Greece.
Over 300 leads have been received from solar companies around the world so far. Sales are assisted by several regionally based commission only Agents. These experienced Agents are keen to get more involved with the business.
Using this simple model of customer driven manufacture, the company can establish profitability quickly as overheads and start-up costs will be relatively low, reducing the need to raise substantial start-up funding. Pricing would be competitive, tracking other Far Eastern brands. Gross sales margins are around 15%.
Factory production is outsourced. We produce solar panels to order. Customers pay up front on order and then we ship directly to their nearest port. The company makes money from the difference in the selling price to distributors and installers and the factory price.
Because the company does not have to run its own factory, overheads are very low but production capacity is high.
Along side its own brand of solar PV panel, the company can also resell related products such inverters, mounting systems and project finance.
Michael Liebreich, from Bloomberg New Energy Finance, anticipates a tipping point for solar energy. The costs of power from wind and solar are already below those of conventional electricity generation in some parts of the world, as they have fallen sharply and will continue to do so. He also asserts, that the electrical grid has been greatly expanded worldwide, and is ready to receive and distribute electricity from renewable sources. In addition, worldwide electricity prices came under strong pressure from renewable energy sources that are, in part, enthusiastically embraced by consumers.
