Our client operates a cycle training business which is Bikeability accredited and also an Instructor Training Organisation (ITO) accredited by the DfT, which provides a range of cycling and cycling awareness courses for Primary and Secondary schools, Adults and the voluntary sector. The company also provides instructors for the practical element of the Safe Urban Driving (SUD) course required by all HGV drivers. Established some 10 years ago and based in south of England, our client works with a number of local authorities providing cycle training and instruction within contracted ‘frame work’ agreements which typically last between 3 and 5 years. The business has a healthy base of local authority clients with some commercial. The business is stable and growing.
• Business growing at 20% plus
• Contracts with a number of local authorities in the South East
• 40 to 50 self-employed instructors
• Limited competition within local market
• Opportunity for continued growth in both turnover and profits
Vexus are exclusively retained to find a purchaser for this market leading business. The acquisition of this business will provide a strategic entry into local authority services, this specialist training area and/or increase an existing operator’s market share and product portfolio.
Reason for Sale
After approximately 10 years in private ownership, our clients intend to retire. They therefore believe that the future growth potential of the business would be best realised in the hands of a new owner with the commitment, enthusiasm and resources to drive the business forward. Our clients are prepared to remain involved with the business for a period of time to allow a fully managed handover of the business.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-established cycle training business with existing framework agreements with a number of local authorities. This business will prove an attractive ‘bolt-on’ to a larger business and/or experienced operator providing support or services with the local authority market.
The Next Step
We intend to open discussions with qualifying purchasers with the appropriate resources, synergies and expertise to take full advantage of this acquisition and market opportunity.
