By attracting new franchise owners from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets, OSCAR has recognised the growing need to introduce a franchise package that is structured to suit individual business requirements.
The 2017 OSCAR franchise package provides the fundamental necessities required to launch an OSCAR franchise. It then allows the franchise owner to choose from a cross section of additional business development services, thus creating a package tailored to suit the individual and their personal skills.
With continued advancement towards success, including training and support, OSCAR is adopting a more user friendly approach throughout. By using up-to-date technology, OSCAR is able to provide innovative training that allows its franchisees home access to an online resource centre, thus making learning more accessible.
Designed with the franchisee in mind, OSCAR is dedicated to delivering a franchise business that supports its network, provides training to enhance business growthand ensure flexibility.
A WINNING 'SCORE' FOR OSCAR
It's been another fantastic year for the leading pet food franchise, OSCAR. As 2016 draws to a close, OSCAR is celebrating the addition of 20 franchise sales to its ever growing network of nutritional advisors.
With a comprehensive training and support infrastructure, OSCAR ensures it accommodates the varying needs of people from diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Covering a wide range of topics, the training is supported by online resources and user-friendly technology. In 2015, OSCAR was the first and only pet food franchise to launch a CertCan (QCF level 3) qualification providing franchisees with a recognised accreditation.
A highly successful network of franchisees comes with resale business opportunities through possible retirement or personal circumstances – leaving the doors open for new investors. A business with an existing income and client base is a positive sign of a healthy franchise network.
While the pet food industry is competitive OSCAR is always prepared to keep abreast of the market when it comes to pet nutrition awareness. And with its extensive range of pet foods, pet care products accessories and services, your OSCAR business is all set for success.
Dedication and enthusiasm combined with self-belief means every OSCAR business has great potential. There is no time to sit back and wait – OSCAR is already creating new and exciting advancements for the year ahead; definitely something to watch for in 2017.
OSCAR MEANS BUSINESS
OSCAR, the first and only pet food company to introduce a Certcan Ofqual course in Companion Animal Nutrition, has, once again, a very good cause to celebrate franchisee success.
On launching the course in September 2015, OSCAR was highly delighted when the first intake consisted of over 20% of its network. The results are now in and they are pleased to announce that 100% passed, with 99% of the franchisees qualifying with a distinction.
Simon Bartholomew, Franchise Director at OSCAR Pet Foods and Chairman of the British Franchise Association, says,“This is a great achievement for our franchisees and we are proud that they so readily embraced the introduction of the course. With ongoing projects, the additional education provides confidence when advising customers, while helping to cement brand loyalty.”
Dedicating four hours a week to study for nine months has been time well spent in order to achieve an advanced knowledge in the complexities of pet nutrition. When franchisees understand diet, feeding regimes and nutrition for health and disease, as well as the effects of nutrition on behaviour for dogs and cats, it provides the trust that pet owners will value to secure long-lasting loyalty.
With recognition throughout the national education system, gaining this certification has allowed franchisees to use the designated letters CertCan (QCF Level 3)* after their name. This opens up more avenues of opportunity, extends nutrition and behavioural support to customers, and busy pet professionals, and in particular something of interest to veterinary services.

Keeping you pet cool and safe this summer
At Oscar we understand how important your pet and their health is to you. For that reason we have put together some tips to help you and your pet enjoy a fun-filled, safe and happy time throughout the summer months.
We’re all aware of the dangers of leaving beloved pets in hot cars. Yet, every year, we continue to hear of dogs suffering needlessly because of being abandoned in a closed car. Even a few moments can leave your dog suffering. The best advice we can give is never to leave them in the car. Plan ahead and take your dog with you rather than leaving them trapped in your car.
Dogs, cats and small animals can easily over heat in hot weather. Make sure you can recognise the signs of overheating in pets...
In serious cases: vomiting & diarrhoea
If your pet shows any of these signs, you must contact your veterinary practice immediately.
Hot weather brings along an increase in the numbers of insects, such as flea’s, worms or ticks which can cause problems. Prevention is better than cure and Oscar can supply you with all the right treatments to keep the bugs away.
Grooming - in the summer you need to pay extra attention to brushing and combing your pet’s coat. Removing any loose hair and tangles will help them to feel clean and fresh.
Water – plenty of it! Always make sure that their water bowls are full of fresh, clean, cool water. Never go out for a walk without taking water with you.
Keep your pet in the shade or in a cool area at all times - overheating is dangerous.
Pets with pale skin really do need to wear a sun block – especially on their nose and ears.
Heat exhaustion is a little like sunstroke – if your pet is panting excessively, drooling and restless you must slowly cool it down and then go to the vet.
Timing your walks to the early morning or evening when it is coolest, means that you can introduce more vigorous exercise, such as retrieve games, allowing your pet to exercise without over heating.
Come rain or shine it’s cool to be connected with Oscar - call today on 0800 068 1106 for full details and a free information pack.
Chipping away at Oscar
As microchipping becomes compulsory for all dogs, OSCAR has also been 'chipping away' at its franchisee expansion programme during March, proudly welcoming another five new franchisees to enjoy the many benefits available to its Nutritional Advisors.
OSCAR has always been ahead of the times when offering solutions to all forms of pet care. And in providing opportunities for franchisees to fulfil customer needs, OSCAR was ready when microchipping became obligatory.
From the 6th April all dogs will have to be microchipped and failure to do so may result in a £500 fine for pet owners. OSCAR avidly supports responsible pet ownership and has, for some years, administered stress-free microchipping as part of its advice and complete pet care service.
Joining the OSCAR professional network of Nutritional Advisors providesexpert training and backup support in all areas of running a business. An opportunity that is second to none, it also includes the accredited Ofqual qualification in nutrition as well as microchipping courses to assist customers with the new legislation. Furthermore, with an extensive range of quality products and marketing materials, the rewards keep coming!
By catering to demand, OSCAR is well prepared for whatever the future holds.
THE RESULTS ARE IN AT OSCAR!
There's no other pet food home delivery franchise able to offer such a unique opportunity to its franchisees! Completing 'Unit One' of the highly acclaimed COAPE (Centre of Applied Pet Ethology) Ofqual qualification in nutrition has already started to put OSCAR franchisees a cut above the rest in pet care.
Designed specifically for OSCAR, the course qualifies franchisees to provide customers with a high level of expertise, combining the benefits of nutritional advice with the variety of OSCAR high quality foods, made to suit the individual requirements of different pets and their lifestyles.
Dedication among the first intake of franchisees has resulted in a 100% success rate of passes, with credits and distinction at the first stage. Some candidates achieved outstanding grades, with Lesley Lavin, from Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, being top of the class.
It was at a recent OSCAR quarterly regional meeting where Lesley was presented with a bottle of champagne by Richard Martin, Managing Director. The meeting was a great platform to showcase the educational project, while also an ideal event for franchisees to network.
The meetings are always well supported by franchisees due to the knowledge gained from interesting topics presented by internal and external speakers. But it also makes way for special announcements such as last year's NEW YORK holiday winners - congratulations to Neil and Lorraine Stapleton, Honiton, Devon and Bernie Taylor, Hassocks, West Sussex. A new year brings another incentive and the franchisees were also presented with details of this year's competition, leaving the door open for two more franchisees to win a fantastic holiday.
OSCAR KICK-STARTS 2016
A fantastic start to the year for the leading pet food home delivery business.
As OSCAR welcomes yet another seven new franchisees in one month, January 2016 gets off to a healthy start. Following the success of last year's 20th anniversary celebration, seventeen new starters joined the thriving network during a year that was packed with exciting developments, which included a fantastic unique opportunity to gain a highly respected Ofqual* qualification in nutrition.
Building on its achievements in 2015, OSCAR is not ready to rest on its laurels and has therefore
introduced an additional marketing package for 2016. Worth over £1000 to all new start-up/greenfield businesses it has been designed to help franchisees reach their ideal audience. Comprising of not only quarterly, seasonal themed promotional materials consisting of posters, leaflets and point of sale, but also show equipment ranging from banners, tiered tables and product baskets to leaflet dispensers, rounded off with an integral van racking system to ensure a professional display for the OSCAR range.
OSCAR prides itself in providing its franchisees with the best products and services and, along with additional healthy pet treats, a recently launched new range of grain free and gluten free wet foods, tray packed for convenience, prepares for much more to come in the months ahead.
It just keeps coming! There are rewards for success too – every franchisee can join in the OSCAR 2016 incentive competition. A great challenge with the chance to win a holiday for two to New York! How good does it get?
OSCAR is fast becoming the 'must have' business opportunity, and with so much to offer it will be worth investigating – just see what it can provide for you, your family and your future.

ANOTHER GREAT OFFER FROM OSCAR
As the pet industry grows OSCAR are looking forward to another exciting year.
Continuing on from their overwhelming success in 2015, seeing a remarkable 17 new franchisees join their network, OSCAR could not close the year without introducing another fantastic offer for start-up businesses in 2016.
OSCAR recognise that gaining new customers can be a very anxious time for any business, and have put together an exciting, carefully designed package of additional marketing support worth over £1,000 to help build local awareness in the early months of business development.
During the first year, start-up/greenfield businesses will be given not only quarterly, seasonal themed promotional materials consisting of posters, leaflets and point of sale, but also show equipment ranging from banners, tiered tables and product baskets to leaflet dispensers. And, as per the OSCAR motto, much, much more: the inclusion of an integral van racking system to display products professionally rounds off a financially rewarding opportunity.
Everything on offer will be instrumental in raising the OSCAR profile throughout the area and at local shows and events; ensuring that those delivering the personal service and extremely high quality range of products have more confidence whilst embarking on their new career path.
At your fingertips there is a strong, positive network, backed up with a comprehensive training and support infrastructure, meaning you are never alone with an OSCAR business. It's a business that gives you the unique opportunity to gain a highly respected Ofqual* qualification in nutrition, which has been written exclusively for the concept of the OSCAR pet care reputation.
With so much on offer, this could be the best time to discover OSCAR and see what it can provide for you, your family and your future.

OSCAR ...... standing the test of time.
August has proved to be a 'booming' good month at OSCAR Pet Foods as they reap the rewards of dedicating more time and resources towards franchisee development; only to see an incredible 8 franchisees join the thriving network in one month.
Over the past twenty years the franchise has grown from strength to strength, during which time it has never stopped looking at new and exciting ways to support franchisees. The 20th anniversary, which is something of a milestone, could not pass without a celebration - firstly to offer a huge discount on the initial investment and secondly to give all new and existing franchisees the chance of a highly respected Ofqual qualification in nutrition. This is a fantastic and unique business opportunity and OSCAR is the first and only pet food franchise to be able to support their network in this manner.
Each franchisee starts their business with comprehensive training on the important elements of running a business: accounts, sales and marketing, product knowledge, nutrition and an 'event show team' on hand to enhance customer development.
As the leading pet food home delivery business, OSCAR naturally stands out above the rest! To cater for the unprecedented demand OSCAR has added more locations to area discovery meetings, ensuring the concept is introduced to a wider audience – even incorporating weekend dates for added convenience.
There will always be new trends, ideas and advancement in pet nutrition as OSCAR continues to focus on the next twenty years in order to meet the ever increasing demand within the pet product market.
Unique to OSCAR! The first and only pet food franchise to offer its network of franchisees a formal nutrition Qualification that is recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation Ofqual.
Whilst OSCAR's reputation for providing pet foods of outstanding nutritional quality speaks for itself, the company is always on the lookout for ways to help its franchisees support their customers, and this new and exciting opportunity is something rather special.
In collaboration with the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE), which provides a range of educational courses dedicated to companion animals in both nutrition and behaviour therapy, and continuing education courses in clinical nutrition for the veterinary profession, an individual course has been written exclusively for the concept of OSCAR and its personal service.
With recognition throughout the national education system, gaining this certification allows franchisees to use the designated letters CertCan (QCF Level 3)* after their name, giving them the chance to open more avenues of opportunity and extend nutrition and behaviour support to both customers and busy professionals.
Spread over nine months, the course equates to committing only four hours of study a week whilst achieving an advanced knowledge in the complexities of pet nutrition. Studying will include diets and feeding regimes as well as combining nutrition for health and disease and the effects of nutrition on behaviour. Embracing such educational excellence in the nutrition of dogs and cats will give franchisees something to be really proud of and will prove enormously helpful in advising customers about their pets with confidence, which will help cement a long-lasting brand loyalty along with extra profits for franchisees.
This unique qualification is open to all franchisees as part of the OSCAR extensive training programme, and comes with a choice of time slots to support the flexibility of running their OSCAR business franchise. With the first intake commencing in September 2015, all new franchisees will be able to get off to a great start with confidence.
By adding to the business development of OSCAR franchisees this valuable accomplishment provides a higher level of expertise and even more credibility to a thriving pet food home delivery business.

OSCAR COMES BEARING GIFTS AS IT CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF FRANCHISING
OSCAR, the pet food and accessories franchise business, is delighted to be celebrating 20 years in franchising. In this anniversary year 'TWENTY' is the theme as the company is offering 20 successful start up business opportunities a fantastic 20% off a new franchise in 2015.
Resale businesses can also join in the celebrations with a comprehensive telesales marketing campaign to boost existing business.
For anyone considering a career change, now is the time to take a look at what an OSCAR franchise can offer.
Keeping abreast of the industry and having 20 years' experience has helped OSCAR to continually update and improve products and services to ensure a prosperous business. Success has created a network of 90+ franchisees, all of whom will be taking part in the birthday celebrations. To its credit, OSCAR is able to boast both franchisees who have been with them for 20 years and next generation referrals, which extends even more confidence in the products and service.
Twenty years ago, OSCAR decided that pet owners needed to be aware of feeding the correct food to their pets. The range of specialist pet foods and expertise in animal nutrition has provided a very personal service, and they have resolved a multitude of problems for many grateful pet owners.
The complete pet care service provides franchisees with a great opportunity to work from home. Self-employment with flexibility is designed to suit individual lifestyles, with time to still meet customer needs and requirements.
After 20 years of franchising, OSCAR has the experience and all the right ingredients to support a successful business with its tried and tested system that is second to none. Preparing to make a life changing decision can be daunting; however, in an industry with repeat business OSCAR is looking forward to the next twenty years.

Much More Than Pet Food: SARDA Sponsorship

Much More Than Pet Food: Franchising
Twenty years of franchising experience has yielded a refined business style, and we are proud members of the British Franchise Association (BFA).
OSCAR's very first franchisee back in 1994 was Jim Davis ….. “Where have the last 20 years gone? What a journey! Like any business, there have been challenges along the way but I have met some great people and their pets, I couldn't ask for a better, happier lifestyle.”
OSCAR - Much More Than Pet Food
Our anniversary is a perfect opportunity to thank loyal customers and individual franchisees for helping us along the way. The interest is catching on.
As a police officer Lucy Banks was fortunate enough to put her experience of serving the public to good use with her new OSCAR business venture.
“I haven't looked back since meeting OSCAR. Being a customer, one thing led to another when I discovered an OSCAR franchise was available in my area,” Lucy says, “It all began when I became a mum. Going back to work for the police force after maternity leave was too demanding because my family had to come first.
“Although I'd had a long-term ambition to run my own business I wanted it to be something different from my past career and something that I could combine with managing a young family.” Lucy goes on to say, “After looking at my options I could not have wished for a better opportunity. OSCAR enabled me to use my people skills, and also my previous experience in customer services and hospitality, which tied in nicely with my qualification in event planning.
“Having been given fantastic support to get started I have nothing but praise for OSCAR in making the whole learning process easy to follow. What's more, I have no worries as the backup advice and help lines are always open.
“What also excites me about my business is the value of social media. It's been a great marketing tool, enabling me to keep in touch with customers and introduce my pet care service to like-minded people. Shows are family days out where I can enjoy the best of both worlds – working with children and animals, and spending time Charlie, our happy, OSCAR-fed Labrador!”
Lucy explained, “So far my biggest achievement is our son. My partner Steve is supportive and, even though he works unsociable hours, he is keen to learn aspects of the business and help it grow because as family we want this to be a long-term project.
“I can't stop thinking of different ideas towards business development and by sharing opportunities with compatible organisations who complement my products and service, it makes all the difference. Having my own business ensures that I can work to my expectations. I'm not influenced by events or circumstances and satisfaction comes from having a secure career that gives me time to plan my schedule.”
Lucy concludes, “If I were to give advice to anyone wishing to follow in my footsteps it would be to speak to other franchisees for encouragement and take time to get to know your area as it will pay dividends.”
Lucy Banks - Oscar Pet Foods, Waterlooville, Hampshire
Wanting a new challenge inspired me to work for myself, but most importantly for my family. That includes my wife Lucy, my son Charlie and our pet dog, Sophie.
OSCAR came recommended via family connections, which led me to investigate more about franchising and more about the company, via the website. I had seen a number of OSCAR vans on the road and this assured me that here was a business opportunity that was well established with a brand that offered potential growth.
My life has been a complete turnaround and having relocated to an area where, by chance, an existing OSCAR business was for sale things were about to change even more. I had no hesitation in making an enquiry, and the initial introduction gave me confidence in the service and the opportunity. I went through all the avenues of research, discovery day and days out with a franchisee to a final interview. Everything worked out so well, and I could not wait to get started.
It has taken just over a year to reach my total comfort zone, but everything has fallen into place. It was all meant to be, and from that first meeting with OSCAR I have benefited a great deal from working with a supportive network that expands my family business, albeit at arm's length.
Peter Houghton - Oscar Pet Foods, Bath, Somerset.
"We explored all the possibilities via other franchises, covering features of marketing, social life and how best to achieve goals, and OSCAR presented us with clear and achievable targets in readiness for us to prepare a business plan. We were made to feel at ease throughout each stage of the transition; the open day at Head Office was well presented, the OSCAR team were patient and more than helpful, and we enjoyed productive days in the field with very professional franchisees.
I2nvesting in a resale gave us a very good start as we were introduced to existing customers in the early stages. Training followed, and that extended our confidence with an abundance of knowledge. It was informative, interesting and impressive, certainly one of the best programmes that Malcolm had experienced in his career."
Laurence & Malcolm Slade - Oscar Pet Foods, Folkestone, Kent.
"I had looked at alternative employment but to work for myself became a more exciting option as I realised the benefits of franchising. Having the back up and support of a larger company and being able to tap into their expertise was ideal for me running a business as a sole trader, as well as looking for flexibility in managing my time.
"I could not have wished for better guidance, I was made to feel comfortable about my future with a company that is well established in franchising and the pet industry. Listening to positive feedback from existing franchisees reassured me that I had made the right decision.
"OSCAR got me off to a very good start, beginning with existing customers, followed by a telesales campaign with promising results. With the opportunity to further my education in pet nutrition I also have a brilliant product range, which has already solved a number of skin and coat problems.
"I am part of a local, growing and supportive network of franchisees who are willing to share experiences and work together at various county shows, and where the introductory 'Starter Packs', tailored to suit individual pets, has been a great opening for business development.
"I'm really excited about my future and I intend to build my business for longterm success."
Sarah Stephens - Oscar Pet Foods, Christchurch, Dorset.
“From many different walks of life in my career - the army, the police force - I went on to spend a number of years working around Europe combining a variety of skills. But there's nothing like being back home and working from home! Timing was perfect as Julie had encouraged me to consider self-employment to ease the pressure of a very demanding and unhappy job.
“Lots of soul searching via the internet led us to the BFA and ultimately to OSCAR, and an organisation that had an instant attraction. We love pets,” says Alan, “but it was very important to keep our feet on the ground. Clearly there were no stones unturned and we were able to understand the opportunity from every point of view. Credibility, from further investigation, ticked all the right boxes for us to proceed to the next stage; each step was very straightforward, thanks to a brilliant team at Head Office. Support and advice is always available, something that any new business needs to make progress, and with a product that lives up to its reputation, education is important.
“We liked the honest approach from OSCAR and it has inspired us to carry this through to our customers. Technology is a tremendous asset but we enjoy the face to face customer contact because, aswith our introduction to OSCAR, direct communication really puts that face to our personal service."
Alan & Julie Parry - Oscar Pet Foods, Berkshire.
“I have been breeding Labradors for a number of years and with a family of five dogs and Lloyd, my ex racehorse, pets are my life. Work revolved around the tourist industry and over the last eighteen years I’d been teaching travel and tourism at a local college.
“Too much of the same thing meant it was time for a change and going back to my passion for pets seemed like the obvious thing to do. I had previously heard of the OSCAR products but I didn’t realise it offered the business opportunity of working from home - until I located their website.
“I did not hesitate in committing to OSCAR and related to the product with confidence. The business concept suited me down to the ground and because I love talking to people about their pets I was keen to get started. By putting my teaching skills to good use I began by giving talks at dog shows and puppy training classes - talking has led me to shows and country fairs, extending my presence to horse and school events. The success has brought about return invites that continue to provide a steady stream of positive leads for me to convert into reliable customers.
“The pleasure of working for myself has brought an even greater reward as I see just how the food has helped to resolve a number of sensitive tummy problems in dogs. Generally there is a marked improvement in the condition of my cat and dog customers, with one rescue dog known to be twenty years of age and thriving.
“I needed this change of lifestyle and OSCAR has given me everything I wanted, including a purpose and a new focus in life. I work to suit me, my dogs see more of me and there is plenty of time to manage the business administration. Never alone, support from Head Office has been fantastic and, complete with a super network of franchisees, all ready to help and share ideas, it simply confirms my thoughts that this is truly an excellent business.”
Liz Moreton, Oscar Pet Foods - Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
"For 27 years I have worked in the family property building business. Office based my role as company secretary and administrator was becoming a solitary existence, which took some of the enjoyment out of my work. Deep down I really wanted to have a business of my own but I really didn’t know where to start - until I discovered OSCAR pet food.
"It all began by chance when Jasper, my dog, and I joined a group of local dog walkers in the park. It was a social event among OSCAR customers, and before long I too became an OSCAR customer.I loved the concept of the complete pet care service – Jasper thrived on the food and Monty, my new puppy, has proved that the food has also provided their respective lifestyles with an all round balanced diet.
"I then became aware that my local franchisee was advertising his business for sale and without hesitation I followed up with an enquiry. Clearly I could see that it offered me flexibility to work around my current commitments but ultimately the opportunity added to my passion for pets. I had found confidence in the product and service and that made the process of purchasing my OSCAR business easy. I was also very grateful to have an introduction to existing customers - it was a valuable experience as it gave me a direct opportunity to understand the function of the business and appreciate their needs.
"Throughout the early stages of my development and even now the staff at OSCAR have been a fantastic support; there is always someone to help with every aspect of the business. Equally, while I have my own exclusive territory I am able to work closely with my neighbouring franchisees. This portrays the size of our network and we enjoy shared opportunities at shows and events in our respective areas. It gives us the chance to meet pet owners who love to talk about their pets, which brings us one of the best platforms for achieving new business.
"Working hours to suit me, I am thrilled with my OSCAR franchise and from my past experience it has helped me to appreciate that you have to be disciplined to succeed. Work hard and you will get back what you put in."
Allison Wright, Oscar Pet Foods - Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.
"Franchising has given us the opportunity to succeed in a business that we knew very little about. We learnt as we progressed and have always been comforted in the knowledge that there was someone to guide or assist us throughout - in particular, advice from OSCAR helped us to avoid costly mistakes. Franchising gives you the best of both worlds - for example, the independence of owning and operating your business with a tried and tested system without having to deal with the many administrative, time consuming, non-income issues that would be apparent in an independent business. Best of all is that, as the owner, your income is determined by your own efforts and is therefore controlled by yourself.”
David and Dawn Jarvis, Oscar Pet Foods -St Leonard's on Sea, East Sussex.
“We said over fifteen years ago that we were starting our franchise in anticipation that its eventual success would provide a good income, enabling us to enjoy a better standard of living and have more quality time to spend with our young family. We stuck to that belief and worked hard, sacrificing a little along the way but now we have total control.
“Would we do it all over again? Yes we would! OSCAR has brought us a very special lifestyle. We have been able to work together and to be there to see our children grow up is something we would not have missed for the world.
“Having focused on how to save our customers time and money, our business is still growing in an economy that is struggling. Clearly, our quality products can reduce unnecessary veterinary bills and combining that with home delivery, we have made a difference to the fuel costs of shopping for pet food. By researching the market it is clear that OSCAR food is well priced against our competitors; in addition the quality of our product helps us to reduce feeding rates, offering greater value for money. It proves itself time and time again.”
Neil and Lorraine Stapleton, OSCAR Pet Foods, Honiton, Devon.
'We had no desire to consider any other business opportunities and everything with OSCAR fell into place. Overwhelmed by the professionalism of the OSCAR team they were thorough in guiding us through the process – step by step and no hard pressure.
'As a start up business with OSCAR, we have had the added benefit of tele-sales. This has given us a great boost by providing quality appointments and that initial foot through the door to introduce the complete pet care service with ease.
'We are thoroughly enjoying our new business, pet people are nice to deal with, they are approachable and appreciative and all with beautiful pets. We are learning something new every day and OSCAR has taught us that work doesn't need to be a chore when we can we provide a service that makes people and pets happy – a win, win for everyone.'

Joanne started by saying, “Working with OSCAR has allowed me the flexibility to run a business that suits my home life, my hobbies and even more my customers, because I've found a work life balance that meets our respective lifestyles.”
“I am always focused and able to motivate myself, and had already started planning for my future. Having researched the benefits of franchising through various avenues, I eventually gained confidence in the concept and was keen to accept voluntary severance from a large IT company.
“My wish was granted when I met OSCAR at a franchise exhibition,” says Joanne. “I have always been associated with animals and to find an opportunity that provided me with both self- employment and pets seemed all too good to be true, and gave me an easy route to making a decision. Prepared for a new challenge and a fresh start, I moved from Shropshire to Hampshire to invest in an area that was clearly waiting for the OSCAR complete pet care service.
“I was aware that franchising provided a great foot in the door for a new business because it came with all the elements of guidance, support and comprehensive training. In turn, OSCAR helped me to appreciate the quality of their products and understand how to be a successful franchisee. I was also overwhelmed by the support offered by fellow franchisees, and eight years on that continues.
“During my time with OSCAR I have generated a lot of happy customers and seen some very positive results from the products. Being able to resolve many skin problems generated by poor diet has introduced me to many pet related businesses including a local dog groomer who is very keen to share my expertise with their customers and thus provide me with genuine referrals.
“I thrive on positivity, an attribute that is important in business. I continually take advantage of everything that OSCAR has to offer by way of ongoing support. Participating in marketing campaigns with newsletters, leaflet drops and featuring in local media gives me a visual platform when attending shows and calling on customers.” Joanne goes on to say, “I believe that, as with any business, you only get back what you put in and it pays to go the extra mile.”
