Situated between the town of Haslingden and the village of Helmshore, and easily reached from the M66. To the east there is an extensive area of moorland. The Grane Valley, including 3 reservoirs, lies to the west and the area forms part of the West Pennine moors. The area attracts walkers and hikers alike of all ages. The city of Manchester is just 19 miles to the north, and Bury and Blackburn are just 20 mins away. The town is notable for its stone quarrying and situated on the hills above Haslingden is the ‘Halo’, a panoptical artwork which opened in 2007 and is an impressive view point as the centrepiece of a reclaimed landscape. The composer Alan Rawsthorne and Manchester City and England footballer Colin Bell were born here.

Once inside there are plenty of fixed and loose seating areas, all with large screen televisions. A long well equipped bar runs through to the lower area used for dining and also for functions. They have a disco and karaoke in this area at present. The lower area can be accessed via steps or a ramp, and has a small dancefloor. The pub is carpeted throughout with a wooden runner to the servery area. There is a through fireplace with coal effect fire in a snug area.
