The Bridge is situated in the small village of Tibberton, situated just south of Droitwich. The pub caters to the local villagers as well as being a magnet for families and day trippers during the summer months. Being adjacent to the Worcester and Birmingham canal, it also has the benefit of attracting holidaymakers and walkers.
Trading area and private accommodation
The pub has a small bar that the locals tend to meet in to drink and socialise, with a TV to attract the local rugby enthusiasts. The lounge/dining room has 35 covers and the company Village menu is supported by a good specials board. During the summer months, the pub becomes very busy for food in the garden and an extra 50 covers can be added during this time. During the winter months trade does naturally slow down, but the local villagers do support the pub, especially for quiz nights and other activities.
The private accommodation is reasonably decorated with fairly new carpets, and consists of two bedrooms, a lounge (which doubles as an office), a bathroom and toilet.
Local area and customer base
Tibberton is a small affluent village that sits between Droitwich, a well-known Spa town, and the city of Worcester, which lies approximately four miles from the Bridge. The pub attracts a lot of local villagers who support the pub all year round and also customers from surrounding areas who visit for good quality, value for money food. It also has the benefit of attracting families, tourists and walkers during the summer months who visit to dine and sit in the garden.
The village has a good primary school and also has a small 'Spar' type shop nearby. Any larger stores are easily visited by car within 10-15 minutes.
The Bridge is currently trading at around £5,000 per week gross, 30% of which are food sales. The pub has traded reasonably well over the last couple of years, but there is potential to increase the food trade by implementing a good marketing strategy. The pub has a potential to achieve £7,000 gross sales during the summer months.
The successful applicant will have excellent catering skills and be able to interact with a tight-knit village community. Good social skills are necessary, as well as a passion for real ales and great food.
