The Travellers Rest is a traditional wet only pub however the new operator could offer a small food menu. It is situated on a busy main road with great bus routes and the train station is within a short walking distance.
TRADING AREA AND PRIVATE ACCOMMODATION
The Travellers Rest benefits from two separate trading areas. The games room has a pool table, darts board and TVs for sports. If customers prefer a quiet drink then they can use the separate lounge area which has its own bar and comfortable furniture. The catering kitchen would require new equipment to offer food but doing this could increase sales considerably. The Travellers Rest boasts a large car park and beer garden with benches and a patio to the rear of the pub.
The private accommodation offers three bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and a bathroom. It is in good condition.
LOCAL AREA AND CUSTOMER BASE
The local area is largely residential and the Travellers Rest is located on a main road. Transport links surrounding the pub are good. Glyndwr University is within a ten minute drive along with Wrexham football stadium, racecourse, hospital and the town centre with an Odeon cinema and designer outlets.
The site currently attracts pool, darts and domino teams. The pub also has a regular client base with people from the nearby community. In the summer the Travellers Rest benefits from its outdoor space as it is the only pub with a beer garden in the local vicinity. The new operator should look to expand its current trade by engaging more with the local community, hosting regular entertainment and events and keeping the bar area vibrant with lots of live sporting events, quizzes and team activities. It is key that the new operator markets the value offers on liquor that the Foundation Agreement offers.
The Travelers Rest currently trades at £2,000 wet sales per week. Weekend evenings are the busiest trading times. The business should be operating well in excess of £3,500 per week and the new operator must encourage new teams and introduce regular functions and events. The ideal candidate will know the local area well and have experience of driving a business forward through functions and events.
