Close to the Peak National Park in the centre of the small and vibrant town of Wirksworth, No 37 is ideally situated within easy reach of Derbyshire’s main tourist attractions. We have been running Number 37 successfully as a three room B&B for 9 years, but are now ready to move on to other challenges. Built around 1780, it is a house full of character and visitors frequently comment on how homely it is. Number 37 is highly rated on TripAdviser, getting mainly 5 star reviews and this year entered their “Hall Of Fame” with 5 years worth of top reviews. It is also one of only two B&Bs in the Town.
We have a relaxed lifestyle, taking several holidays which add up to at least 12 weeks closed per year, so turn over around £20 000 per year. More dedicated and entrepreneurial owners could easily double or triple this. At present we have 3 comfortable well proportioned guest rooms (one ground and two first floor). Each room has a special character of its own - Hopton Wood has a wonderful two hundred year old fireplace, Church View invokes a sense of history and Garden View reflects the peace and tranquillity of the garden. We have two recently updated bathrooms on the first floor and a downstairs cloakroom. On the second floor are our living quarters with three more double bedrooms, one of which we currently use as our lounge. The entrance hall is very elegant and gives a lovely first impression to guests. Off the hall is a spacious dining room with a log burner, the kitchen and conservatory both lead off this, and these three rooms together create a great space at the back of the house. Outside are two sheds, and a pretty walled courtyard which leads into a quirky long garden set on three levels.
Wirksworth is an attractive and friendly place to live with a range of independent retailers, coffee shops, and good restaurants. The pubs are very friendly, accept dogs and often put on live music events. We also have a 52 seat Boutique Cinema, Heritage railway and the ‘StarDisc’ - all of which attract people to the town.
