The guesthouse is in the beautiful Georgian market town of Richmond. It is situated on a village green yards from the river Swale and beneath the imposing Norman Castle, yet only 300 yards from the market square. It comprises two buildings set around a beautiful courtyard garden. One, the original Georgian building, with six letting rooms, a dining room, office, reception, and residents lounge and the other recently built (2006) in keeping with the original building which comprises three ensuite letting rooms and a self-contained split level owners apartment of generous proportions.
We trade from Easter to October (close in winter) and draw our 2000 plus clients from visitors exploring the Yorkshire Dales, walkers and cyclists following the Wainwright coast to coast trail, military staff and families associated with Catterick Garrison (5 miles away) , and the many tourists drawn by Richmonds many attractions. We enjoy the highest quality review status on Google, TripAdvisor, and Booking.com.
There are nine letting rooms comprising 8 double or twins and one single. All are well decorated and equipped. We chose to operate only 7 or 8 months and keep our turnover below the 85K VAT threshold. This leaves a lot of room for expansion of the business for anyone wanting to operate year round.
