Hillcrest House is situated in the South of the town of Wigtown, Dumfries and Galloway. Situated in a large and elevated plot Hillcrest house features views across the Galloway countryside and Wigtown Bay. Just to the North of the river Blandoch and known as the gateway to the Machars peninsula the town features a far reaching and attractive vista ranging from rolling countryside to open sea. The town is also Scotland’s national book town and a large number of book shops independent cafes craft and art shops can be found alongside a supermarket, primary school and doctors’ surgery. The status of the town attracts visitors throughout the year with an annual book festival and numerous other literary events. This area of Scotland is renowned for a mild climate, beautiful unspoilt countryside and for the abundance of sporting and recreational pursuits to suit all requirements. To the north of Wigtown is the Galloway Forest Park whilst to the south is Wigtown Bay, the UK's biggest Local Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The entire area boasts an excellent coastline encompassing sandy beaches, cliffs and river estuaries. The area is particularly popular amongst hill walkers, cyclists, fisherman whilst shooting and golf are also popular. Wigtown is 10 minutes from the larger settlement of Newton Stewart. Access can also be gained to the A75 which stretches from Stranraer in the West to the A74 (M) in the East passing Dumfries. Wigtown is also around 2 hours from Glasgow which offers the facilities of a major city including an international airport.
