Hilton Smythe welcomes to the market Ashby’s Butchers, a name synonymous with the area having been a butcher shop since the 1940’s and in our client’s ownership since 1982.
Our client is now looking forward to retirement.
Ashby’s is a traditional butchers shop selling cuts of meat, sausages, burgers and cooked meats along with some groceries.
The shop comes with its own 2 bedroom living accommodation above the shop.
There are many repeat customers, most are known by name. There are also strong reviews on line, including 5* Yell reviews, 4.8* Google reviews and 4.5* Yelp reviews.
One of many good reviews is headed – ‘Wonderful Service’
And continues – ‘We used this amazing butcher for the 2nd time today. We bought our months’ worth of meat. The gentleman who served us was so patient and so helpful. We went through my shopping list and he picked me out everything I wanted, divided items into bags and even vacuumed packed it and labelled it for us! What wonderful service. We bought some cooked beef and ham and garlic sausage too! He gave us a sample of the cooked ham and beef which he actually cooks himself and he told us he is also the one who salts the other beef they sell too! Am going to let my friend know as I know he would love some. Looking forward to going back next month.
Thank you so much for all your help. Wonderful service.’
Although this is a profit-making business there is scope for development by looking at the following options.
• Extend the grocery line
• Sell pies, pastries, scotch eggs etc.
• Outside catering – our client used to do some outside catering but gave this up a few years ago.
• Take card payments – this is a cash only business and some custom has been lost.
• Utilise a website. There is a suspended website with the domain name www.ashbysbutchers.co.uk, which needs to be re-introduced to enhance sales.
• Grow the stock to introduce more meats etc
• Employ another member of staff to help with demand.
Hilton Smythe highly advise early viewing to avoid disappointment.Location
