Best Cellars specialise in carrying a range of quality Wines, Beers and Spirits which are as unique a retailing proposition as is possible. This is achieved by dealing with independent vineyards (via an agent) as well as brewers and other wine suppliers. By doing this, the owners offer a product range and service that their customers appreciate.

Without doubt Best Cellars is also a lifestyle business, as Ashburton is an attractive location on the edge of the glorious Dartmoor countryside. As well as the busy shop, the accommodation includes a first and second floor maisonette with some interesting character features, two bedrooms and a garden area.
With an area of approximately 22 sq m or 236 sq ft, this is a small but stylish, single fronted shop. The internal walls are tastefully fitted out with wooden wine storage bins and the shop theme is a traditional vintner’s green. This is enhanced by the spotlighting on the dark green and black wine bottles, with their bright coloured labels. It all combines to create the ambience of a prosperous market town wine merchant, where customers feel at ease to seek advice. At the back of the shop there is a store room and then a kitchen/ work room with a staircase to the first floor accommodation.
This is a husband and wife partnership and they are selling because one of them intends to retire and the other is starting a new career.

The beautiful south Dartmoor town of Ashburton is a gateway to the Dartmoor National Park. Its Town Centre is also noted for its fine architecture and period buildings, of which 12 North Street is a fine example. Ashburton lies on the southern boundary of Dartmoor, just off the A38 Expressway which brings the two Devon cities of Exeter and Plymouth within commuting distance and also connects Ashburton into the ubiquitous motorway network. Historically Ashburton was built up around the wool trade but was also an important stannary town, which means it was a centre for the administration of tin mining. It remains the largest town within the National Park.
