The football season lasts for over nine months from August to May and the remaining three months are the months of summer (June, July and August). In June and July there are a number of concerts at the Etihad Stadium, when the capacity is increased to allow over 70,000 people to come and see their favourite bands and providing a huge intake of extra revenue.

The MIHP is due to open in 2016 and will deliver programmes for the local community as well as for elite athletes. It will be supported and delivered by a team of highly skilled and specialised doctors, sports injury specialists, nurses, physiotherapists and healthcare researchers.

The MIHP is the next phase of the ambitious plans that will take East Manchester from being not only a world-renowned centre for sport and leisure, but also a world leader in sport and health science and research. Once established, MIHP will attract world-leading clinical and research groups to the city and, in return, bringing more people to the area.
