TRADE - Di Rollo’s of Musselburgh is a well known family business which was established 120 years ago and now in its third generation, although the current owners now wish to retire.
The business manufactures ice cream to a traditional family recipe and the product range comprises circa 100 flavours. Generally, around 30 flavours are available although orders for flavours not in stock are made usually within a three-day turnaround. In addition to ice cream, a selection of cones, wafers, sauces, sorbets and frozen desserts are available.
The business currently provides a wholesale service to various businesses to include chip shops, hotels and restaurants, catering companies and retail businesses, generally in and around Edinburgh and the Lothians. There are a few customers outwith in Fife and the Borders. Orders are usually placed by phone or email and delivered the next day.
The business also supplies the retail shop “Elena Di Rollo” on nearby Bridge Street which is owned/operated by another family member although this is not included in the sale.
The business benefits from a loyal customer base although we are advised that limited marketing has been undertaken over recent years therefore there is undoubtedly scope to develop the business.
The business is currently operated by the two owners with two full time factory staff employed, one of which has been there long term. A full-time driver and cleaner are also employed with two part time staff in the office.
Accounts for the business will be shown to seriously interested parties following a formal viewing of the property.
PRICE - The price (available on application) includes the heritable property, the trade fixtures, fittings and equipment, together with the goodwill of the business, which is to be sold complete as a going concern. Stock in trade will be purchased at an additional price at valuation on the date of entry.
Our client would consider a sale of the brand/customer base in isolation for relocation within alternative premises.
The subjects are located within the East Lothian town of Musselburgh upon the Firth of Forth coast, approximately 6 miles east of Edinburgh city centre.
The town benefits from strong surrounding transport infrastructure with direct access to the A1 motorway.
