In the UK, the health and beauty sector is big business: every year the UK spends millions on personal pampering services, beauty treatments and spa sessions. Health and beauty franchisees that present themselves well and offer the right mix of products and services for their customer territory can cash in on this valuable market sector. 

Fitness is another hugely popular business sector, and there are lots of gym chain franchises to choose from. With fitness centre franchises, the required up-front investment is often higher as the franchisee will usually need to secure their own premises. Fitness franchise owners often have experience in personal training, but it’s not always a necessity; it’s worth asking the franchise on their criteria for new franchisees, and what kind of training they can offer.

The fitness, health and beauty sectors are luxury sectors – to ensure that a franchised gym or health and beauty salon is successful, the franchisee needs to be able to ensure that the highest levels of service are consistently met. The franchisee should ensure that they are getting the most out of the franchise in terms of staff training, buying power and management advice to ensure that the products and the staff are first-rate. Equally, it’s vitally important that all franchises in the network adhere to the same standards, so that the franchise’s brand remains as strong as possible and a true asset to the franchisee.
