Business Description
An impressive and beautifully refurbished, five bedroom Dartmoor farmhouse, in the tranquil rural setting of Widecombe in the Moor. The house stands in approximately three quarters of an acre and there are also two most impressive and well presented holiday cottages, both beautifully fitted out to a high standard. One of the cottages provides cosy one bedroom accommodation and the other is a spectacular barn conversion, with two ground floor double bedrooms, both with ensuite facilities. To take full advantage of some stunning Dartmoor views and a beautiful vault arched roof, the two bedroom cottage has as its first floor accommodation a spacious open plan living space, with lounge and kitchen areas. Lower Venton Farm also benefits from having a lovely old stone barn, currently used as a joinery workshop. The lovely mature gardens border onto open fields, with lawned areas, a vegetable plot, a small orchard and an abundance of colourful flowers, shrubs and trees.

For owners and holiday guests alike, it’s a truly idyllic location but, at the same time, the ever popular Ruddlestone Inn is just a short walk away and then, continuing along a quiet country lane for another half a mile, is the lovely Widecombe village centre, with its various local amenities, including a magnificent old church: “the Cathedral of the Moors”.

The house and cottages have been beautifully and painstakingly refurbished or converted by the current owner (a specialist joiner) over the last nine years and offer a level of accommodation for owner and holidaymaker that is far above what one would normally expect to see. There is an abundance of exposed stone and timber work; bespoke hardwood joinery; and plenty of quality flourishes such as wood burning stoves and granite worktops

On inspection, prospective purchasers will appreciate why the cottages are so popular with holiday guests. However there is also an unconverted stone barn, which, subject to planning approval, could also be converted into Holiday Accommodation.

Location Details:
Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a village situated in the Dartmoor National Park, approximately 13 miles north west of Newton Abbot and 22 miles south west of the Cathedral City of Exeter. Set in the heart of the Widecombe valley, Widecombe in the Moor encompasses dozens of isolated cottages and farms. However tourism is the main source of income for Widecombe and the village centre is an established international tourist destination, with various gift shops; two café tearooms; the Old Inn; and the Rugglestone Inn. At the centre of the village is the magnificent church of St Pancras, also known as the "Cathedral of the Moors" and sitting quietly next door is the National Trust’s Church House and Sexton’s Cottage. However, just as important, is the village primary school. The Village is probably best known for Widecombe Fair, held annually on the second Tuesday of each September, attracting countless visitors. Of course the gorgeous setting of the village is one to savour, as the wild ponies, sheep and cattle meander on the village green. The scenery surrounding the village is also stunning and the view of the "Cathedral of the Moors" as you drive down the steep hill into Widecombe is just enchanting.
