Oakley is a small village located on the A907 approximately 5 miles west of Dunfermline. The local economy was historically driven by the iron works and local colliery, the colliery closed in 1984. Nowadays Oakley is predominately a commuter village with good transport links to Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Stirling and Perth. The current population is 2,297 (Census 2011). The Greyhound Bar is the only public house in the village, and its only close competitor is a Social Club located on the main A907.
