The subjects comprise a bar/restaurant which currently trades as ‘The Western
Club Restaurant’ providing traditional Scottish cuisine to a fine dining standard. It forms part of the larger private members’ club which also offers business space, seminar rooms, conference facilities, function space as well as accommodation within the building.
The restaurant caters to 70 covers. Patrons sit at tables with fixed booth seating and high backed dining chairs. There is a bar area within the restaurant. The members’ bar, accommodation and private dining may need to be catered for by the operator. The private dining area will be available for use by the general public on a booking basis.
The restaurant is currently open for lunch and dinner sittings Monday to Saturday, with both a market menu and A La Carte option. Starters range from £6.50 to £12, mains from £16 to £28 with sides and deserts from £7.50.

We believe this offers a rarely seen opportunity for an experienced operator to take on a very well presented restaurant and drive it forward. We understand that the Club currently provides around £200,000 in turnover from members’ bookings, and food and beverage sales. We understand that there are around £600,000 of sales from the public using the restaurant. This means that total net turnover from the site is circa £800,000 per annum.
The Members’ Club carried out an extensive refurbishment of the premises four years ago. We understand this amounted to a £350,000 fit out.
We have trading information for the business which will be provided to seriously interested parties following a formal viewing.
The Western Club are offering a management agreement to operate the Restaurant and provide services to the members club. The terms of this agreement are negotiable.
The property is located on the north side of Royal Exchange Square within Glasgow City Centre. Its outlook is onto the Gallery of Modern Art and the Royal Bank of Scotland building, with the surrounding pedestrianised streets illuminated by fairy lights creating an ideal atmosphere to dine.
Its central position means that it is bound by two very popular areas. Buchanan Street – the ‘Style Mile’ – is a short distance to the west, with an annual footfall of 91m. The Merchant City to the east provides a popular leisure circuit and contribution to the nightlife economy.
The Restaurant occupies the first floor above the L.K.Bennet retail shop, with the remainder of the building utilised as a private members’ club offering, accommodation, a bar and private dining and meeting rooms to its members. The square in front of the subjects has the Gallery of Modern Art as well as the world famous Duke of Wellington statue.
