From Craignure take a left and follow the A849 directly to Fionnphort which means “Port of White Sands”. The Keel Row sits prominently within this busy ferry port and is the only pub and restaurant in the village. Fionnphort also provides regular daily sailings to Iona and Staffa, making it thrive throughout the year with tourists who come from all over the world to visit the famous Isle of Iona, known as the “Cradle of Christianity. The views and setting are second to none with white sandy beaches, rugged landscapes and views towards Iona Abbey, which is one of Scotland’s most historic and sacred sites. The village has basic amenities with further amenities in Bunessan, 5 miles away.
Since purchasing the business in 1997 the present owners have spent a lot of time and effort establishing The Keel Row into one of the most reputable bar/restaurants on the island. Being the only licensed premises in Fionnphort it is very popular with the locals throughout the year as well as tourists who flock to this end of the island going to Iona. The car park for the ferry is directly opposite the property so it is very easily noticed. In many respects it has a captive market and has managed to build up a good name for its food, welcoming surroundings and atmosphere within the bar. Throughout the year the lounge bar has regular live music nights which are supported well by the locals and also “open mic” nights once a week. Being very supportive of the local community, the local darts team plays its games from here which is an added source of income during the quieter winter months.
The Keel Row offers a fantastic business proposition for any discerning purchaser looking to get into this picturesque area and operate an already very well established and profitable business. Offering an ideal change of lifestyle opportunity there is ample scope to increase as the business, at present, is run very much to suit our clients requirements. A viewing would be highly recommended in order to fully appreciate what is on offer and its potential.
