In FY2019, turnover was £1.7m. For the last two years, turnover has held steady at £2.6m.

The owner’s simple but very effectively delivered proposition is to provide delicious, locally-produced artisanal food and drink from regional suppliers and their own commercial kitchens. This food and drink is either sold within their shop, via the butchery counter, in the cafe and via outside catering.

Retail proposition

Our client offers a wide range of food and drinks, much of it made in-house and the remainder from suppliers.

Chilled meats for sale are prepared by the shops’ in-house butchers. The commercial kitchen produces both chilled and frozen foods for customers. A stand-out unique selling point of the butchers is sourcing from local farms. Two local farms supply fresh lamb and beef. Another local farm supplies pork products.

Management and internal expertise

The company is owned by shareholding directors who are ultimately responsible for all financial and strategic decisions. They do so in consultation with their day-to-day management team.

However, the shareholding directors are not required day-to-day. Major decisions still in the hands of the shareholding directors include forward orders for Christmas and Easter stock as well as premises maintenance. The directors will train the new owner on these responsibilities post-handover.
