Highland Lassie is a sympathetic conversion of a former fishing boat built with windblown oak which follows the line of the hull giving the floating hotel a distinctive and imposing appearance. She is unique in many ways, the only fishing boat in Scotland to be decommissioned and left whole. Highland Lassie was designed to be a cruiser doing chartered sailings up the west coast and canal.
Currently based on the majestic Caledonian Canal, a spectacular sixty-mile stretch, 22 miles of wide canal, the remainder being formed by natural fresh water lochs. There are 29 locks and 10 swing bridges along the waterway, linking the world-famous Loch Ness, through the Great Glen to Loch Oich and Loch Lochy.
