The Bell Caravan and Camping Park is in the heart of beautiful Wiltshire on the edge of Salisbury Plain in Pewsey Vale, four miles east of the idyllic market town of Devizes, one of the most historic towns in the county.
The site is flat with easy access, a great place for a family holiday, weekend getaway or as a base for exploring. With beautiful countryside views it’s the ideal place to relax – you can see the Alton Barnes White Horse from the fields.
The current owners have lived in the old coaching inn in the grounds for over 25 years and decided not to re-open completely after the pandemic closures. Due to their advancing years the site is in need of love and attention but offers great income potential with 3 holiday/AirBnB cottages as well as the camping pitches an perhaps caravan storage too for added year-round income.
Enormous potential at the property – which may be very different to it being a campsite.
The whole county of Wiltshire is very historic, the most famous being Avebury and Stonehenge. The Sarsen stones for Stonehenge are thought to have been taken over or very close to this campsite on their way from Avebury over Red Horn Hill and on to Stonehenge. Close to Avebury is the West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill, the largest man-made mound in Europe.
Close to the campsite is the village of Urchfont, which can be reached across the fields, the picturesque village pond scene may be familiar to you, it was one of the paintings chosen by the Post Office to decorate the walls of some of their offices.
The village church set back behind the pond dates back many centuries and the foundations are thought to predate the Norman Conquest. Red Horn Hill is just 1-mile distant with stunning views of Salisbury Plain and Pewsey Vale. The perimeter track is permanently open for walking, cycling, horse riding or motoring.
Devizes is an interesting market town with a weekly street market each Thursday and the important award winning Pre-historic Wiltshire Museum featuring gold from the time of Stonehenge; free for children. World renowned Devizes Auction House, Wadworth Brewery with some of the only working Shire Horses pulling the dray to deliver to local pubs.
The Kennet and Avon canal passes through the town with the famous Caen Hill flight of locks, excellent for walkers or cyclists. Places of interest – Bath, Salisbury, Lacock, Bowood, Marlborough, Wilton House….. and many more.
