With pre-COVID turnover at £2.7m, our client has established themselves as a regional force in the manufacture, supply, and installation of double glazing, conservatories, patio doors, and roof lining products in the North East of England and beyond.
Sales slipped by 25% as a result of the pandemic causing the company to make its first-ever loss. Revenues have however rebounded in the last twelve months meaning that our client expects to return to its prior healthy levels of profitability.
This is a well-developed, cash-generative business owned and operated by its current management team since 2006.

Workforce
Other than the owner, the company comprises a manufacturing team, four teams of window fitters (often booked out up to 4 months in advance), and an administration team.
The owner currently has veto over major strategic and financial decisions for the company in which he is assisted by:
• the company secretary who looks after the day to day internal business and deliveries.
• the company accountant who looks after the financial side of the business
• the factory manager in charge of day to day production
• the production processor who is in charge of the manufacturing schedule and stock ordering
• the installation and remedial servicing manager
Premises
The company operates from a 10,000ft2 manufacturing facility with a 4,000ft2 office showroom which has a trade counter serving the general public.
Each premises has dedicated 3 parking spaces but there is plenty of parking to the side of both premises.
There are also have 2 bays dedicated for use as a compound to house skips for rubbish from installation.
Marketing
The company’s core marketing activities are its two websites. The double-glazing website receives around 250 searches a month and the door installation website around 625. Both sites rank well on Google on key search terms despite their current lack of content and SEO copywriting.
The company also receives leads from a national patio door installer website direct as they are the North East England dealers for this brand.
The company is a current member of the Fair Trades Association, a buyers’ directory which has some of the strictest qualifications of all trade organisations. They have a listing on the association’s website, which displays prominently the 9.43 out of 10 rating given to the company by over 950 homeowners and landlords.
The company also advertises on public transport and in trade magazines occasionally.
Sales and cash flow
Domestic sales appointments are fulfilled by either the owner or a surveyor. Most deals result in business. For domestic clients, one payment is made which triggers the production of the windows required for the job. Installation occurs full & final payment is made.
Commercial clients are serviced via a non-recourse factoring facility.
For supply only orders, the current lead time is 3-3.5 weeks. Where the client requires an installation, turnaround time is 6-8 weeks dependent on the supply of raw materials, customer payment of invoices, and installation team work schedule.
Opportunities for growth
There are multiple opportunities outlined for growth by the current owner which are detailed in the information memorandum including:
